Our team

Ilias Konteas has taken up the position of Executive Director for EMMA/ENPA as of October 2018. Ilias has a legal background with a specialisation in European law, including European media law. Before joining EMMA/ENPA he spent 16 years at BUSINESSEUROPE, in charge of intellectual property issues.

Ariane Carré joined EMMA/ENPA in January 2020 as Head of Legal and Policy. Prior to joining the publishing sector, Ariane worked for the European organisation representing groups and cooperatives of independent retailers, following inter alia digital, internal market, consumer law dossiers with a focus on competition issues, her passion. She holds a Master’s degree in European law from Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (France).

Vanessa De Palma joined EMMA-ENPA in September 2019 and has been working as Junior European Affairs Manager for the two associations since March 2020. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of Trieste and a Master’s Degree in Political Economy of European Integration at HWR Berlin.

José Guimarães joined EMMA-ENPA in January 2023 as European Affairs Manager. He has over 7 years of experience in EU affairs, including at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) as well as in various private sector organisations where he was in charge of digital policy and regulation. His areas of expertise include intellectual property, online content (incl. illegal content), media & audio-visual, and data & privacy. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Minho (Portugal).

Sophie Mertens joined EMMA/ENPA in January 2021 as Office Manager with a previous 5 years experience as a team assistant at the biggest European organization representing European farmers. She holds a master's degree in Art History and Archaeology from the ULB in Belgium.
